There are many ways one could go about creating a sustainability photo tour, this is how we did it… and how you could do it too.

1. Choose a place.

2. Create a blogger account… go to blogger.com and follow the instructions.

3. Download the blogger app to your smart phone, if you don’t have a smart phone that’s ok, grab a camera.

4. If you don’t know much about sustainable elements / climate change mitigation in the landscape, use the sources provided on this blog to do a little research and learn to recognize them.

5. Go to your chosen location

6. Look for sustainable elements / climate change mitigation in your chosen location.

7. Take photos. If you have downloaded the blogger app you can take these photos with the app, upload and geo-tag them right there on the spot. If your using a digital camera, remember or write down the location each photo was taken (you can upload the images and geo-tag them when you get home).

8. Once you have your images on your sustainability photo tour blog, do some googling, see what you can find out about each of the elements you photographed and do a little write up for each, add links to the information you found.

9. Go to Google maps, click on my places and hit the red create map button. Put a marker on the location each photo was taken, use the url blogger provides for each of your uploaded photos to link the photo to the location on the Google map. Summarize your info and copy and paste it in. Unfortunately you’ll have to do this all one by one, as far as we could tell there is no way to batch import all your locations and photos to the Google map.

10. Link your blog to your map and your map to your blog.

11. Make it all public and share!
